Will Learning To Detox Your Body Promote Your Health

I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy good health for pretty much all my life. I’ve hardly ever been ill, and can’t remember the last time I had a cold or virus of any kind – or at least not that lasted longer than about 12 hours. So it was completely out of the blue when I began feeling constantly tired and lethargic, and getting out of bed in the morning was becoming quite a chore. I’d visited the doctor several times and had quite a few blood tests, but they all came back negatve.
A friend of mine, who also happened to be a physiotherapist, intimated that I would likely benefit from a detox diet, and put some effort into learning to detox your body and how my eating habits may be affecting my health. It sounded like a good idea, so I spent a few weeks doing some research to learn all about it, and try to understand why alternative health therapists say it’s so popular and advocate regular detox dieting and in particular the 7 day detox diet so avidly.
She also hinted to me to try a relaxing foot detox. I now treat myself to a foot massage at least once a week, but if you don’t have one of those, the foot detox can do just as good a job – but with the patches you don’t get a relaxing foot massage at the same time
This is what I learnt about detoxing your body.
Make sure you drink plenty of water
Making sure you take in plenty of fluids is very important while you are following a detox diet because it will help purge excessive toxins from your body. It also helps to prevent constipation, helps your internal organs function more efficiently, and helps reduce the signs of aging by plumping up your skin. You should aim for about 2 to 3 liters a day, although you will need more in hot weather or on days when you are exercising.
As a guideline, for every hour that your exercise each day, drink an extra 2 glasses of water. Tap water which has been filtered to remove the chlorine and impurities is the best option. Keep your water at room temperature as it’s more refreshing that way. Herbal teas are a great alternative in helping your reach your daily quote – loose leaf is better than tea bags as it hasn’t been processed as much. Peppermint, camomile, dandelion root, horsetail and yarrow are especially great in a detox as their additional properties naturally support the detox process. Green tea and redbush has extra punch as it is very high in OPC antioxidants.
Do You Need To Go Organic
You do not need to switch to a totally organic diet on a detox diet, especially as the cost can be very high, but selecting just a few organic ingredients will be a step in the right direction.
It’s not a major problem if you can’t get hold of any organic produce. Concentrating on eating fresh (and ideally raw) fruit and veg is the main point regardless of them being organic or not, rather than not get enough of them. However, there are some good reasons for going organic on a healthy detox diet.
Organic foods are produced without the use of artificial pesticides and fertilizers, and therefore they are much healthier being free from toxins and man made chemicals. It’s also a very controversial subject as there is mounting evidence that the build up of toxins from man made chemicals and bug sprays are linked to some of the serious health conditions of today.
By comparison, organic foods are processed much less than non-organic. The big benefits of this are that they have no genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and free from artificial preservatives. The taste and flavor of organic food is usually much better as well.
Teen Alcohol Abuse: A Major Issue

Alcohol abuse statistics show that alcohol abuse among adolescents is increasing in the United States. What are some of the reasons for this? Numerous alcohol addiction consultants articulate that wine, beer, and liquor advertisements constructed by the media are an important reason for the spread of teen alcohol abuse.
Other alcohol addiction consultants emphasize the point that the increase in youth alcohol abuse is due to the acceptability and convenience of wine, liquor, and beer in our society.
Still other substance abuse consultants think that many of our adolescents engage in excessive drinking due to the increased apprehension that they are subjected to.
From a slightly different vantage point, since both parents in a number of families work, the lack of parental supervision positively has to play an important role in the proliferation of teen alcohol abuse. And last but not least, different chemical dependency authorities declare that the escalation of teen alcohol abuse is due, in some measure, to our lax society.
Coping Skills and Alcohol Abuse
One facet of teenage alcohol abuse that looks as if it somewhat incomplete in the substance abuse research literature, nevertheless, is the insufficiency of educational courses that teach students how to upgrade their coping skills so that their injurious drinking behavior is substantially decreased or eliminated.
More explicitly, science has disclosed the fact that there is an indirect relationship between poor coping skills and abusive drinking. In point of fact, this means that the worse the coping skills, the greater the prevalence of alcohol abuse. To the degree that this is a correct declaration, why isn’t coping skills training a major part of the educational core curriculum in all of our elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools?
A Society That Accentuates Adolescent Coping Skills
Let us manufacture a scenario for the purpose of clarification. Let us imagine a society in which students are trained how to develop good coping skills all the way from kindergarten up to and including the twelfth grade.
In such a society, when life gets demanding, individuals who are “coping skills masters” will be able to respond in a healthier and more creative manner, contrary to others who are unsuccessful in their attempts to put their coping skills into practice.
More precisely, students who show evidence of outstanding coping skills will be more able to think clearly and display superior decision making as opposed to teens who, because they were unsuccessful in their attempts to learn top quality coping skills, gravitate to the “quick fix” of hazardous drinking.
What would happen in the above “ideal” society, moreover, if teens not only received outstanding coping skills training but also obtained an excellent education that accentuated the short term and long term destructive outcomes associated with drug abuse and alcohol abuse? Such an emphasis on drug and alcohol abuse facts, along with more advanced coping skills training, it is affirmed, would help adolescents steer clear of the apparent charm interlinked with adolescent drinking and, for that reason, would significantly reduce the injurious drinking behavior exhibited by teenagers in our country.
Teen Hazardous Drinking: Conclusion
There are without a doubt a number of defensible reasons why so many of our adolescents drink in an abusive manner. Such a thorny subject matter demands a far-reaching and relevant educational and preventative response by our politicians, educators, students, and parents so that our teenagers can learn how to cope with life’s predicaments in a more fruitful and accountable manner rather than resorting to dangerous drinking behavior to solve their problems.
What I Learned About Alcohol Dependency and Drug Addiction in High School
July 27, 2009 by Natural Remedy Reporter
When I was in the tenth grade in high school, I enrolled into a drug abuse class. At that age, I did not realize that alcohol abuse actually was a sub division of drug abuse. While taking this class and learning more about drug and alcohol abuse, I read a lot about Alcoholic Anonymous, their meetings, how their programs have twelve steps, and how successful the Alcoholics Anonymous recovery program has been for people all through the world. I also learned a lot about alcohol rehab and the diverse alcohol rehab centers that are often available to people who engage in hazardous drinking.
Some of the damaging effects associated with alcoholism and alcohol abuse that I learned about in this class undeniably frightened me. The ruined lives and abundant problems experienced by most alcohol dependent people made me feel like I never wanted to drink alcohol when I became old enough. Stated briefly, I did not want to face the damage and destruction that alcohol dependent individuals almost always experience.
Ponder upon this for a moment. What fifteen-year-old individual wants to face premature death due to his or her drinking behavior? What teenager wants to become so out-of-control regarding his or her drinking that drinking alcohol becomes the object of one’s life? What teen wants to go to one of the local alcoholic rehabilitation centers to deal with alcohol-related difficulties before he or she becomes twenty-one?
What young person wants to experience alcohol withdrawal symptoms when he or she tries to stop drinking? Why would an individual engage in drinking to such an extent that it would cause serious issues in every area of his or her life? Drinking later in life after a person has a career, a family, and develops personal responsibilities makes sense. But why would a teenager want to sacrifice his or her education, employment, finances, and relationships for a life that revolves around abusive drinking?
These issues were so important that I talked about some of them in class throughout the school year. What was downright incredible to me was the number of students who openly didn’t care about the negative outcomes of hazardous drinking that I talked about. It was almost as if they couldn’t care less about the facts and how these consequences can shatter their lives. For the first time in my life I started to comprehend a saying that my grandfather used to emphasize throughout my younger years: you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.
When Drinking Causes Problems With Your Health and With Your Life

How do you identify the fact that you have a problem with your drinking? When is it evident that you are engaging in hazardous drinking?
If you have unsuccessfully tried to quit drinking or if you promised yourself that your drinking days are gone and then you realized that you were drinking excessively just a few days later, the odds are quite good that you have drinking problems. The major point of emphasis is that if you have attempted to terminate your drinking and cannot get this accomplished, then your drinking is controlling you, instead of the other way around.
In much the same way, if it takes larger amounts of alcohol to get the same “high,” you probably need to realize that you have a drinking problem.
You may be telling yourself that the reason for your drinking is so that you can lessen your anxiety or get rid of the agony that you feel. In a similar manner, you may be trying to steer clear of a negative situation and may be looking for something more useful, more helpful, or less mournful.
As you continue your drinking, on the other hand, you will become aware that drinking does not produce the same high and you will also realize that drinking doesn’t help get rid of whatever was causing your pain in the first place.
As you continue to drink in a hazardous manner, unfortunately, you may become addicted to alcohol and, as a result, you may add another essential difficulty to manage rather than becoming aware of more effective and beneficial ways of managing your alcohol-related predicament.
The Requirement for an Alcohol Evaluation
If you have figured out that you have a problem with your drinking, perhaps the most expedient thing you can do for yourself is to call your physician or healthcare provider and arrange for an appointment for a thorough physical and for an assessment of your drinking behavior.
If you truthfully believe that you have a critical drinking problem, it might be a good idea to get prepared to hear that you need to get alcohol therapy.
At this point in time, what are your alternatives? You can indisputably say no and refuse to see your medical doctor and continue your pattern of hazardous drinking.
It truly doesn’t take a wiz kid, however, to have a handle on the fact that chronic, out-of-control drinking, if left untreated, will get worse over time and almost certainly bring about an early death. Therefore, your most positive choice is to face your drinking problem and get the alcohol therapy you require.
The Pretext of the Functioning Alcoholic
It is somewhat odd to note the fact that multitudes of alcoholics lead busy and active lives and have vehicles, jobs, pets, houses, families, and any number of material possessions just like individuals who are not addicted to alcohol.
Many of these “functional” alcohol addicted people may have never been arrested for a DWI and may have been lucky enough to avoid all alcohol induced legal issues. Despite this fortunate circumstance, nonetheless, these alcohol addicted people need to drink in order to operate on a day by day basis while keeping their facade as they interact with people outside their family.
Ask anyone who has seen them when they are engaging in one of their drinking binges or in a drunken stupor or ask a family member about the problem drinker’s alcohol dependency, however, and they will be quick to affirm the legitimacy of the drinker’s situation and the details about the alcohol addicted individual’s drinking circumstances and about his or her alcohol generated issues.
Why Do Alcohol Addicted Individuals Fail to Recognize Their Drinking Problems?
As alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse research has emphasized, no matter how evident the alcohol-related issues seem to those who interact with the alcohol dependent person, alcoholic individuals commonly deny that drinking is the origin of their alcohol generated issues. Not only this, but alcohol dependent individuals often blame their alcohol induced issues on other people or upon other circumstances that surround them rather than seeing their part in the issue.
The origin of the problem is that alcohol dependency is a disease of the brain. Once the alcohol abuser has become alcohol dependent, he or she commonly resorts to denial, manipulation, and dishonesty as a way of dealing with the fact that his or her drinking is out of control. And to make the situation more complex, the experience of alcohol withdrawal symptoms usually counteracts the alcoholic’s rare attempts to abruptly refrain from drinking. As grim as the alcohol addicted individual’s existence is, then again, the good news is that competent help is typically available – if the alcohol addicted individual reaches out and seeks alcoholism therapy.
Conclusion
Acknowledging the fact that drinking is eliciting problems in your day by day functioning is probably the easiest way to determine if you have a problem with your drinking. Stated more precisely, if your drinking is eliciting issues with your health, at work, in your relationships, with your finances, at school, or with the law, then you have a drinking problem that needs to be dealt with.
If you have a problem with your drinking, furthermore, this means that you are engaging in irresponsible drinking.
While some people may be able to pinpoint their alcohol abuse difficulties and greatly decrease the quantity and rate of their drinking, other drinkers, however, need to manage their drinking difficulties by getting quality alcoholism treatment. Moreover, due to their tendency to deny the facts and alter the truth, alcoholics undeniably require proficient alcoholism rehabilitation for their abusive drinking.

Many people go through their lives without understanding why they make the same mistakes, follow the same patterns, and live in the same ruts. They aren’t happy with their present situation, but they seem to be unable to make any lasting changes. Are you one of these people?
Perhaps you’ve attend seminars, read books, and taken courses, but, in the end, fallen back into the same dysfunctional patterns you’ve always followed! Why does it always turn out this way?
We struggle to make permanent changes in our lives because we input information only into our conscious mind. The problem is that your conscious mind does not control your belief system or your behaviour.
To change your behaviors, you must first reprogram the hard-wired center of your mind: the subconscious mind.
How Does Your Subconscious Mind Work?
The subconscious is the largest part of our mind. It contains all the messages we’ve received throughout our lives. You belief mindset and character traits are held here, and grouped into millions of thoughts clustered held there.
The relationship between the conscious and subconscious minds is like an iceberg. The conscious mind is represented by the visible tip of the iceberg, while the subconscious is represented by the gigantic lower portion of the iceberg hidden from view.
You can’t see the subconscious in action, but it certainly has a major impact on the voyage you take in your life.
The subconscious is the place where all of your learned behaviors reside. Once you learn to walk, you don’t need to consider how to lift and place each foot to take the next step, do you? Of course not! Your subconscious mind automatically controls your steps.
Your subconscious learns behavior through repetition and practice. Just as it learned to control your footsteps when you learned to walk, it also controls your footsteps in your life’s journey based on what you’ve reinforced throughout your life.
The good news is you can reprogram your subconscious mind by inputting and reinforcing new thoughts and actions! By tapping into the the subconscious mind with several different techniques, you can reprogram how it works.
Here are some strategies you can use to change your mind and change your life:
1. Affirmations. Affirmations work to change your subconscious mind by using positive, personal, present tense statements to override the embedded negative thinking. By repeating these positive thoughts, you can create new pathways in your subconscious, giving it new attitudes.
Then your subconscious causes you to act in new ways that agree with these new attitudes. For example, repeating: “I choose healthy foods at each meal” can change your mindset about what you eat and why!
2. Visualization. Visualization is the act of creating detailed mental pictures that depict a desired outcome so you can see success for yourself. These images stimulate the subconscious into accepting them as reality, which then directs behavior accordingly. Top athletes around the world use this technique during game-time.
3. Hypnosis. Hypnosis and various other types of therapy works with the subconscious mind. By easing you into a state of extreme relaxation, you will find that hypnosis is effecive and works. Once you’re in this state, the conscious mind releases its grip, and the subconscious mind is easier to access.
While under hypnosis, it’s much easier to reprogram the subconscious into accepting new thoughts as reality.
4. Subliminal Audios. You can use subliminal audios while you sleep. The conscious mind listens to music or someone speaking on one level, but the subconscious mind hears another layer of information recorded underneath the audible portion.
When awake, the conscious mind is distracted with the audible portion of the audio, making it harder to tap into the subconscious mind.
Using techniques like these can help you reprogram your subconscious mind and remove the burden of the negative thoughts buried there. Imagine the freedom of living your life without the automatic dysfunctional behaviors you’ve had driving you for years!
When you transform your negative outlook into a positive one, you can accomplish so much more. In doing so, your mind will be released from negative programming, allowing you to excel and succeed throughout your life.

Why Do Alcohol Dependent People Fail to See Their Drinking Problems?
As alcohol dependency and alcohol abuse research has underscored, no matter how obvious the alcohol induced issues seem to those who interact with the alcohol dependent individual, alcohol addicted people normally deny that drinking is the cause of their alcohol induced difficulties.
