Get Proper Hydration to Be Healthy

A person can live 4 to 6 weeks without food but without water it is just a matter of days. Water is the most important substance to our body for it is needed for all the processes that occur within. And it is much more important if you are following a diet. It does not do miracles but if you want to lose weight in a healthy manner you have to exercise and when you exercise you need to keep your water levels up.

The amount of water you should drink varies; trainers say you should talk to a nutritionist to calculate your water needs depending on the characteristics of your body. In principle, it seems that if you sleep 8 hours a night – so you spend 16 hours awake – it would be ideal to drink a glass of water every hour. The simplest method would be to keep a 1 gallon flask of water at all times, and to write down to the end of the day how much water you needed. You need to drum mark. If you manage to drink all the water that means you satisfied your “hydration needs” for that day.

The simplest way to find out if you had enough water is achievable at home. Urine color is a good indicator. If generally it is transparent and clear the hydration is optimal. If it is yellow or loses its clarity, you need to drink more fluids.

This also indicates a proper kidney cleanse, which is very important for the balance of your body because this means that the toxins are eliminated properly. This does not automatically lead to rapid weight loss but it speeds up the process a little bit, and any help is better that no help at all. Water is very important for your health so make sure you get plenty of it.

What is Reflexology Foot Massage?

You may have heard the word ‘reflexology’ used in the context of foot massage before, and wondered what it meant. The concept is simple enough- stimulating points on the foot are supposed to have an effect on other parts of the body associated with the foot, the foot “reflects” the entire body.

The theory of reflexology comes from TCM, or Traditional Chinese Medicine, and in this system each part of the foot is associated with some part of the body. For instance, the big toe represents the head and neck, while the center of the foot represents the kidney. Each organ system in turn has specific characteristics and functions according to TCM theories, and massaging the area on the foot associated with the organ is supposed to have a certain effect and relieve specific ailments. Without getting too much into discussion of the theory, which fills books, let’s just say that the foot from toes to heal roughly correspond to the body from head to foot.

If you are skeptical, and you have the right to be, maybe you should try it for yourself. Find a qualified reflexology practitioner and give it a go- let him or her know if you have any specific ailments. Reflexology has a good reputation when it comes to treating headaches and problems with digestion, for example. But either way, if you are able to relax and the massage therapist knows what he or she is doing, you should have a near heavenly experience.

When the treatment is done, you can expect to feel lighter and relaxed, with more of a sense of well-being. Keep in mind that reflexology, as well as other forms of massage therapy, aren’t usually going to work in one try. These ways of healing are usually carried out over several treatments, so give it the old college try before pronouncing judgment. In the end, whether it works according to TCM theory or not, it’s silly to try to deny the therapeutic effects of a good foot massage.

Stanley Burrough’s Master Cleanse Book

A lot of us have heard of the Master Cleanse. It is a detox diet that seems to occasionally take Hollywood and/or the talk show circuit by storm. What a lot of people might realize is that the Master Cleanse comes from a book written by a man named Stanley Burroughs.

Burroughs actively promoted various alternative medicine techniques through the 1940s and 1950s and the Master Cleanse was just one of his special remedies. His book – The Master Cleanser – is the source of the diet that is followed by so many folks today under various alternative names such as the Master Cleanse, the cayenne pepper cleanse, the lemonade diet and a few others.

In addition to the Master cleanser, Burroughs also wrote and published another book, titled Healing for the Age of Enlightenment. This books covers practices such as color therapy and pressure point therapies.

While Burroughs actually ran into some legal troubles promoting his detox program as a method for curing cancer, it doesn’t seem to have an effect on the popularity of the Master cleanse recipe today. A lot of this is due to its promotion by another author named Peter Glickman. Glickman is a natural health advocate who promotes the Lemonade diet as a cleansing routine. He and certainly no one else who uses the diet today would suggest that it can cure cancer as the idea is ridiculous.

But there is, of course, plenty of arguments as to whether this particular cleansing routine actually does anything. Of course, the ingredients of the cleanse are all quite harmless in themselves, consisting of lemon or lime juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper.

So I think the issue is really that if you feel it is helping you, there isn’t any harm in using it. But for the majority of people looking to detoxify, just following a healthy diet and eliminating overindulgences in sugar, processed and refined foods and unhealthy habits like drinking and smoking would probably do a great deal to improve health.
