Antenatal yoga is a type of yoga that is done that takes precautions for women who are pregnant.  Otherwise known as prenatal yoga, it is a great way for pregnant women to be able to stretch their backs to alleviate some of the back pain they may feel from carrying the baby.  It is also a great way to help them to relax and breath properly which can help them in labor, and also a great way for them to be able open their hips which can help them during labor.  I am going to talk about some of the benefits, and so if you are pregnant, you may consider doing prenatal yoga after this.

Back pain is a common problem among pregnant women, because of the additional weight they are carrying, and the way that the weight is distributed. It can sometimes be unbearable for women who are pregnant, but antenatal yoga is great for stretching out your back.  There are a few different exercises that are great for this.  The relaxation pose where you gently lay yourself back onto a yoga pillow and stretch out your back is a great post to help your back out.  Another popular one for pregnant women with back pain is the cat-cow pow.  This one is done on your hands and knees, by tucking your butt in, and then making your back rounded.  Breathing is a large part of yoga, so while you are arching your back you’ll want to breath in, and then when you relax to the starting position you’ll want to exhale slowly.

You can also do various yoga squatting exercises that can help to strengthen your lower body, as well as open up your hips which is great for labor.  You’ll need core muscles and to know what positions open up your hips while you are in labor, to make it a little bit easier on yourself.  this is why doing yoga while you are pregnant is very, very important.  If you have a Nintendo Wii Fit, I would recommend getting a Wii Fit yoga mat and doing the yoga exercises on Wii Fit Plus so that you can get real time feedback on your balance and stretches.

Yoga as a Path to Fitness and Fulfillment

Before I started yoga I always thought it was something done only by women or wimps. But after taking my first class more then a decade ago I realized that yoga is one of the most comprehensive full body workouts that you can get. Moreover it need not cost much. To start at home all you need is a yoga DVD or book and something like a nice cotton mat.

Better yet would be to find a good class in your area. The sort of yoga you practise also influences the workout you will get. My favorite is Ashtanga yoga, which is a very fast moving and physical yoga that really gets you to work up a sweat. It focuses on building strength and aerobic capacity. Other styles such as Iyengar are much more precise and concentrate on getting an exact position and holding it. It helps develop balance and flexibility. Another option is Hatha yoga which is smooth and flowing and far more spiritual.

The truth is, however, that all of the different sorts of yoga have more in common than you would think. The best thing to do is to try a couple and see what works for you. Men generally seem to go for Ashtanga because of its influence on strength and because it really leads to an incredible physique. Do this seriously for a year or more and you will completely transform your body and develop lean muscle.

But you should not just see yoga as only about building strength or working your body. Yoga is based on an ancient philosophy and is very much about the mind and spirit as well as the body. You need not be religious to appreciate this. Much of it is simply about making time for your mind and to clear your head of the day’s normal worries and troubles. It is about finding space for yourself and to simply empty yourself of thought to find an inner peace. For some people this is the most beneficial element of yoga. Scientists have shown how this sort of meditation can lower blood pressure and reduce levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. Slowing your breathing and relaxing your mind are every bit as important to your health as eating well and exercising regularly. Few other activities combine these quite as well as yoga.

How to Overcome Panic Attacks

It is hard for a person who suffers from panic and anxiety disorder to lead a healthy and normal life. A lot of those who are plagued by panic attacks have this tendency of becoming paranoid as they see all situations as possible triggers which is why they live alone, avoid travelling, meeting with other people to steer away from getting into an argument, conflict etc. Overcoming panic attacks is a very daunting task, but know that it is very doable!

When panic attacks get under way, many people prefer immediate solutions and with that, they turn to the use of prescription drugs and pills. Although it is true that these medications can provide you with a soothing relief, but as you keep on taking these pills and drugs, you will reach the point wherein you will get addicted to them and end up tarnishing both your mental and physical health.

You see, the root cause, the reason why you are experiencing attacks etc. all of these things cannot be fixed or set right with the use of medications. Such medications can only provide you with a momentary symptomatic relief like for instance you feel extremely nervous, you are sweating profusely and palpitating or feeling that somebody is squeezing the life out of you and so on.

In terms of how to control panic attacks, you first have to admit to yourself that you have a slight problem. Acceptance plays a huge role if you want to effectively take control of your condition. As a suggestion, what you can do is that instead of getting all worried of the reactions which can happen within your body whenever your mind is triggered, try hard and focus all of your energy in reliving and rethinking the situation again and again, so your mind develops the ability to perceive the situation in a relaxed and calmed manner instead of going insane over it. Give this technique a try and over time you will see an improvement in your physical and mental health.

Used Mobility Scooters Save You Money and Protect Your Independence

If you are unfamiliar with electric mobility scooters, yet have a person in your life for whom mobility has become challenging due to illness, or age, then you should learn more about them.

Mobility scooters are personal vehicles, that can have one or two seats. They do not travel at more than a few miles per hour at any given time, so they can never dangerously accelerate, or go out of control. Some of them are motorized, while others run on gas. They usually come with either 3 or 4 wheels. The ones with 3 wheels are often much easier to maneuver than the ones with 4 wheels. Some people prefer 3 wheels over 4 because they can make sharp turns, and get into smaller spaces. Some people prefer 4 wheels over 3 because they feel that 4 wheeled models provide more stability. All of these vehicles will have a soft cushion for comfort, along with flat large foot rests.

Most of these vehicles are somewhat expensive when you buy them brand new. But all of the more basic models are covered by insurance. If you want a model with more modern features like headlights and multiple seats, you might have to dip into your own budget, in addition to the insurance to pay for it.

If you find that the advanced features are things that you or your loved one will need, then you might want to consider purchasing a used mobility scooter. These scooters vary in quality from gently used, to well worn. You have to use your best judgment to find a good source to purchase from.

If you buy from a private seller, you want to make sure that you have the item checked out by someone who is electronically inclined, before you buy the unit as is. There is also the option of purchasing a used model from a company that does professional refurbishments. This is usually a safer option, because they will offer a warranty and repairs for any vehicle that you buy from them.

Stop Snoring Naturally

Their are hundreds if not thousands of stop snoring devices on the market these days. Ranging in price from $40 up to $500 dollars a pop, they all aim to do the same thing, help you to stop snoring. Though there are many successful stop snoring remedies that are completely natural and wont cost you a thing monetarily.

First and foremost one the main reasons why people snore is the fact that they are overweight. Doctors and scientists alike both agree that loosing 10% of your overall body weight will reduce snoring significantly and may get rid of it all together. Their is really no way to get around this one, most of the other natural remedies wont do much if you are overweight, and its better to loose some weight now rather than later.

Second on the list of snoring solutions is to consume liquids such as water and non caffeinated drinks before heading off to bed. You see, the reason people snore is based upon the fact that their throat cavity tends to get dry and close up during the night. With obese people this is more prevalent, but it happens to all snorers. Drinking fluids and lubricating the throat however may work to stop snoring in its tracks.

If you tried the fluid thing and that didnt work you may want to look at the way which you sleep. Most people sleep on their backs and this is a huge negative when it comes to stopping snoring. Sleeping on your side will reduce snoring naturally, but eliminating the throat from rattling thus creating the noise that we know as snoring.
If none of these natural methods worked for you you may want to look into purchasing a stop snoring device, or making a trip to your doctor as you could have obstructive sleep apnea which would cause excess snoring.

Acupuncture and Infertility: The Real Deal?

Is Acupuncture the real deal? The short answer would be yes, acupuncture is one of the natural fertility treatments of my choice when it comes to telling what my potential clients should do. What is acupuncture exactly and how does it work to produce such amazing results?

The answer is two fold. First of all, acupuncture has been around for centuries. (and yes, what most people know about it is misleading) Normally, a treatment doesn’t stick around for such a long time if it doesn’t work. In fact, acupuncture has a long history of 5000 years, now that’s a very long time to test whether a treatment works or not without the aid of any pharmaceutical drugs and/or surgery or any kind. In fact, aside from herbs, this is the only kind of treatment used in China for a very long time. If it works for them for such a long time, I’m sure It will work for you.

But you might be thinking that you need more proof than longevity to accept that acupuncture and infertility has been interlinked as a cure for 5000 years now. (and whether they’re effective or not) And you shall get the proof because recent medical journals has been documenting he effectiveness of acupuncture for treating anything from arthritis, weight loss, back pain, depression and of course, infertility. This is not some kind of whack job experiment but most of them are peer reviewed journal that are widely respected by clinician and physician from all over the world. Similar results have been replicated at labs all around the world with similar results.

Plus, acupuncture has been really popular these days and shows no signs of declining popularity. The reason why it’s so popular right now is most probably because it really works for a lot of people.

Fish oil is popularly known and normally consumed because of the beneficial factors it has for arthritis and cardiovascular health, and it is also commonly known that fish oil benefits skin, but it can also be very beneficial and important for mental well being and health. Many mental health sufferers can be relieved of many symptoms by taking fish oil supplements because of the high amounts of omega 3 fatty acids that they contain. Many people suffer from these types of issues, including children. Some of the mental conditions that the fish oil vitamin benefits may help to improve include, ADD, ADHD, depression, hypertension, and even has had positive effects on sufferers of bipolar disorder. Because of the omega 3 fatty acids that fish oils contain, brain functioning, memory, and improvement in mental clarity can occur while taking these supplements. Many studies conclude that a lack in the nutrition that fish oil supplements contain can cause mental health issues to arise, thus backing up the importance of taking these supplements daily.

That is because they contain an empowering and essential supplements called EPA and DHA, which are both essential to allow for better brain function. People who suffer from depression often have smaller amount of these levels in their system, and can increase the levels by daily consumption of fish oil supplements. EPA works by easing inflammation, making the blood thinner and allows for the blood to circulate easier through our bodies, which can make an individual have better mood stabilization.

A fear isn’t always something we can control. Fears are often irrational so there is no point in trying to reason with the person and make them realize how silly their fear is. The best thing to do is to research ways of treatment and see how other people have overcome their phobias. Here we are going to walk about the fear of driving a car and what’s sort of affect it may have on people around you.

Picture the scene. You get into a car and from the minute you leave the driveway things go wrong. You can’t find the right gear, you get stuck in the wrong lane and even though you are constantly checking your mirrors, you seem to be in everyone’s way. This sort of driving over a prolonged period of time can cause you to have a serious doubt about your driving and to develop anxiety over driving. This anxiety soon manifests into a full blown fear and you no longer want to drive. You would rather take the bus (or two) everywhere, walk for miles and even stay at home instead of driving. The thought alone of getting in a car fills you with dread and even though you can see its affecting your life, you don’t want to drive anymore.

Driving anxiety not only affects you but the loved ones around you too. You become reliant on other people for lifts who feel they are being used. You become a burden on people and they can’t understand why you can’t just drive yourself. This is why you need to give your loved ones the support and help to overcome this fear so they can once again lead a happy and full life. It’s going to be a long and hard journey and they are going to need all the help they can get so just be there for them and help them out if they ask.

What is Reflexology Foot Massage?

February 9, 2010 by Natural Remedy Reporter
Filed under Detoxification, Your Mind

You may have heard the word ‘reflexology’ used in the context of foot massage before, and wondered what it meant. The concept is simple enough- stimulating points on the foot are supposed to have an effect on other parts of the body associated with the foot, the foot “reflects” the entire body.

The theory of reflexology comes from TCM, or Traditional Chinese Medicine, and in this system each part of the foot is associated with some part of the body. For instance, the big toe represents the head and neck, while the center of the foot represents the kidney. Each organ system in turn has specific characteristics and functions according to TCM theories, and massaging the area on the foot associated with the organ is supposed to have a certain effect and relieve specific ailments. Without getting too much into discussion of the theory, which fills books, let’s just say that the foot from toes to heal roughly correspond to the body from head to foot.

If you are skeptical, and you have the right to be, maybe you should try it for yourself. Find a qualified reflexology practitioner and give it a go- let him or her know if you have any specific ailments. Reflexology has a good reputation when it comes to treating headaches and problems with digestion, for example. But either way, if you are able to relax and the massage therapist knows what he or she is doing, you should have a near heavenly experience.

When the treatment is done, you can expect to feel lighter and relaxed, with more of a sense of well-being. Keep in mind that reflexology, as well as other forms of massage therapy, aren’t usually going to work in one try. These ways of healing are usually carried out over several treatments, so give it the old college try before pronouncing judgment. In the end, whether it works according to TCM theory or not, it’s silly to try to deny the therapeutic effects of a good foot massage.

Dealing With Constant Tiredness

Looking to beat your case of the blahs? Feeling drained all the time? Find yourself thinking “Wow, I’m constantly tired. Using a few time honored methods you can use to rejuvenate your body and mind and get back to your old energetic self. You will want to tailor your own custom end tiredness program depending on your lifestyle and time demands. These tips are designed to be easy to work into your day to day routine.

Don’t be afraid of taking cat naps, if you have the time in your routine to manage a brief nap then go for it. The perfect nap is would be about ninety minutes, ten of those being the much needed REM mode sleep that is needed for refreshing your mental state.

Steer clear of excessive coffee, energy drinks and sweet snacks. The vast majority of energy drinks on the market only give a short burst of false energy. There is no getting around it, the energy has to come from somewhere, and you are paying a high premium for a short burst when you will pay a few hours later when you crash; the same goes for sugary snacks.

Get the RIGHT amount of sleep. Yes there is a right amount of sleep, for most adults its 7.5 hours a day. While it is obvious that under sleeping will leave you tired, fewer people know that oversleep will have a similar effect. Oversleeping is actually a symptom that you are developing a sleep disorder. Your body craves REM mode sleep which you aren’t getting, and so you feel the need to sleep longer, but sleeping in won’t solve the real problem.

Tackling a sleep disorder may take some help from your doctor but one thing you can do is to keep a sleep disruption journal. If you find you have to get up in the middle of the night jot down a quick explanation of why, even just a single sentence. Keep track for a week or two and bring it with you when you visit your doctors office.
