			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Heartburn is a burning sensation that is felt around the area the front of the trunk of the body from the stomach up to the upper chest.  It is one of the primary symptoms of a medical condition called Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) or more commonly known as acid reflux. There are some fantastic cures for heartburn that don&#8217;t require to you take handfuls of pills. Practicing proper prevention techniques are always much easier than having to deal with the irritation of heartburn.</p>
<p>While heartburn is generally caused by GERD, it mostly occurs during or after the following activities:</p>
<ul>
<li>Heavy lifting</li>
<li>Consuming a heavy meal</li>
<li> Bending over</li>
<li>Lying on your back</li>
</ul>
<p>Heartburn from GERD is caused when acid from the stomach regurgitates back to the esophagus.  Because the esophagus does not have the same mucous lining that the stomach has, acids cause that burning sensation.   Regurgitation is not a normal occurrence since a sphincter muscle between the esophagus and the stomach is supposed to prevent that from happening.</p>
<p>GERD treatment is normally through medication and involves changes in lifestyle such as weight management through exercise and dieting.  Drugs can vary depending on the severity of acid reflux. For minor cases, antacids can be used to reduce stomach acidity. Heartburn home remedies also will usually help with this type of heartburn. For more severe cases, H2 blockers and proton pump inhibitors are drugs that minimize the production of gastric acids.</p>
<p>Other than medication, diet can significantly reduce heartburn.  Listed below are some eating tips that you can apply to reduce heartburn attacks:</p>

<li>Avoid taking soda or any carbonated drinks;</li>

<li>Avoid tough meat, pasta, doughy bread, and vegetables with their skin on them.</li>
</ul>
<p>Heartburn more often than not happens at night thus there are a few practical actions one should take if they are experiencing heartburn.  Listed below are some of them:</p>
<ul>
<li>Don’t sleep immediately after a meal.  Go for a walk or stand upright after dinner;</li>
<li>Avoid midnight snacks.  In fact, the last meal taken should be at least two hours before sleeping;</li>
<li>Try sleeping on your left side as opposed to your right side which makes the stomach higher than esophagus thus putting pressure on the sphincter muscles;</li>
<li>Sleeping in a tilted or a semi sitting position can help keep gastric acids inside the stomach. Make sure that it is the entire body that is lifted and not just the head which can cause result in more acid reflux.</li>
</ul>
<p>These simple tricks should provide relief for heartburn. However, if these prevention techniques don&#8217;t work and if you constantly suffer from heartburn, see a physician and have yourself checked for GERD.  It is important to note that GERD can develop into more serious ailments that can be harmful to both the esophagus and stomach.  Furthermore, heartburn can be caused by other materials from the stomach such as bile, in which case, the proper medication must be prescribed.</p>

This condition is called heartburn as the pain occurs close to the area of the heart.  In reality, heartburn occurs when acid from the stomach finds its way back into the esophagus.  Heartburn may be mistaken for angina, but it has little to do with the heart.</p>
<p>Heartburn attacks happen most commonly after a heavy meal containing saturated fat and/or highly acidic food.  Other known triggers of heartburn include aspirin, smoking, caffeine, chocolates, mint, and other highly acidic food. Those people who are overweight or pregnant can experience heartburn more compared to others.</p>

<p>Back pain is a common problem among pregnant women, because of the additional weight they are carrying, and the way that the weight is distributed. But after taking my first class more then a decade ago I realized that yoga is one of the most comprehensive full body workouts that you can get. Moreover it need not cost much. <p>Better yet would be to find a good class in your area. The sort of yoga you practise also influences the workout you will get. My favorite is Ashtanga yoga, which is a very fast moving and physical yoga that really gets you to work up a sweat. It focuses on building strength and aerobic capacity. Other styles such as Iyengar are much more precise and concentrate on getting an exact position and holding it. It helps develop balance and flexibility. Another option is Hatha yoga which is smooth and flowing and far more spiritual.</p>
<p>The truth is, however, that all of the different sorts of yoga have more in common than you would think. The best thing to do is to try a couple and see what works for you. Men generally seem to go for Ashtanga because of its influence on strength and because it really leads to an incredible physique. Do this seriously for a year or more and you will completely transform your body and develop lean muscle.</p>
<p>But you should not just see yoga as only about building strength or working your body. Yoga is based on an ancient philosophy and is very much about the mind and spirit as well as the body. You need not be religious to appreciate this. Much of it is simply about making time for your mind and to clear your head of the day’s normal worries and troubles. It is about finding space for yourself and to simply empty yourself of thought to find an inner peace. For some people this is the most beneficial element of yoga. Scientists have shown how this sort of meditation can lower blood pressure and reduce levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. Slowing your breathing and relaxing your mind are every bit as important to your health as eating well and exercising regularly. Few other activities combine these quite as well as yoga.</p>
